Lincoln-Way West secured a decisive 16-2 victory over Troy (Ohio) on Wednesday, showcasing strong offensive capabilities and effective pitching.
Troy initially took the lead with two runs in the first inning, including an RBI single from Hayden Frey. However, Lincoln-Way West quickly responded. Anthony Vita's three-run double in the bottom half of the inning gave the Warriors a 3-2 advantage.
According to game reports, Lincoln-Way West extended their lead in the second inning. Conor Essenburg and Michael Pettit each contributed with run-scoring singles before Jackson Mansker added two more runs with a double, increasing the lead to 7-2. Essenburg continued his performance with another RBI in the third inning, and an eight-run fourth inning solidified their win. The Warriors capitalized on walks, a hit-by-pitch, a sacrifice fly, and timely singles from Pettit, Bartley, and others to complete their scoring efforts.
Pettit was credited with the win after allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out seven over four innings. Jack Condon provided relief by pitching a perfect inning. Essenburg led with three hits, while Vita and Mansker each recorded three RBIs. Lincoln-Way West concluded the game with 12 hits and six walks without committing any errors.
Troy’s Aidan Gorman managed two hits and two stolen bases during the game.
Lincoln-Way West is scheduled to visit Coffee for their next game on Wednesday.
