Lincoln-Way West walks off Plainfield North in extra-inning thriller

Jackson Mansker's bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth inning secured a 5-4 victory for Lincoln-Way West over Plainfield North in varsity baseball on Monday morning.

According to the game summary, the Warriors and Tigers were tied at 4-4 after seven innings. In the eighth, Mansker drew a full-count walk, forcing in the winning run and clinching the nonconference win. Lincoln-Way West took an early lead with a run in the first inning due to a Mansker triple and an error. The Warriors added two more runs in the second inning through RBI walks by Ian Hazelip and Mansker.

Plainfield North responded with three runs in the fourth inning, tying the game with an RBI groundout by Johnny Andretich and a run-scoring single by Luca Agne. Conor Essenburg led Lincoln-Way West offensively, going 3-for-5 at the plate, while Carson Paulas contributed two hits. Despite only one hit, Mansker drove in two runs. The Warriors collectively drew nine walks.

Luke Gouty earned the win for Lincoln-Way West by pitching a scoreless eighth inning in relief. Adam Gerl started for Lincoln-Way West, allowing one run over three innings. Agne led Plainfield North with two RBIs, while six players each recorded a hit. Although Plainfield North drew six walks, they left several runners stranded in scoring position.
