Lincoln-Way West's varsity softball team concluded its postseason journey on Tuesday with a 5-0 defeat to Lincoln-Way Central in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) sectional semifinal.
According to reports, the Warriors entered the game with momentum following their regional title victory but struggled offensively against Lincoln-Way Central's strong pitching and defense. The Knights took an early lead and maintained it throughout the game, keeping West scoreless over seven innings.
Despite this setback, Lincoln-Way West completed a successful 2025 season with an overall record of 23-12. The team demonstrated consistency throughout the season and achieved significant milestones in postseason play, including a 2-0 regional championship win over Victor J. Andrew.
"Our players fought hard all year," said the coaching staff. "This team has a lot to be proud of." The loss also marked the final high school game for the team's seniors, who are recognized for their leadership and growth within the program.
"We want to thank our seniors for their dedication and everything they’ve done for Lincoln-Way West softball," added the team. "We wish them the very best in their next chapter."
Lincoln-Way Central will advance to compete in the sectional championship game later this week.
