Lincoln-Way West secured a decisive 15-0 victory over Tinley Park on Friday, driven by Conor Essenburg’s five-RBI performance and a comprehensive team effort.

Essenburg made an immediate impact, driving in a run with a triple early in the first inning before hitting a grand slam to left field. According to the game report, his bat ignited a nine-run first inning that effectively decided the game before the Titans could record three outs. The Warriors took advantage of multiple Tinley Park errors and added crucial hits from Lucas Acevedo and others to establish an early lead. Peyton Globke reached on a fielder’s choice to score a run, and Acevedo contributed an RBI single before Essenburg’s grand slam cleared the bases.

The offensive surge continued into the second inning as Lincoln-Way West added six more runs. Zach Hermanson and Acevedo each singled in runs, Michael Pettit hit an RBI triple, Tyler Bartley walked with the bases loaded, and Anthony Vita doubled in another run to extend their lead.

Essenburg also excelled on the mound, allowing just one hit and no runs over two innings while striking out four and walking none. Acevedo and Pettit each pitched a scoreless inning in relief to complete the shutout.

Acevedo led the Warriors with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate along with multiple RBIs. Overall, Lincoln-Way West amassed 12 hits and maintained solid defense throughout. Drew Benthine collected Tinley Park’s only hit, finishing 1-for-2. Nolan Maciejewski took the loss for Tinley Park, conceding nine runs—only one of which was earned—in one inning of work.

Lincoln-Way West is scheduled to travel to Shepard for its next matchup on Tuesday.
