Lincoln-Way West boys cross country turned in a standout performance at the Richard Spring Invitational, finishing 29th out of 80 teams in a highly competitive field.
The meet took place on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Peoria Notre Dame High School.
Senior Nick Dul broke the team’s 10-year strong record, running the three-mike course in 14:38 with an average pace of 4:53 per mile. He placed 15th overall among 577 runners. His finish paced West to an 811-point team total.
“I felt a bunch of relief and joy realizing I accomplished more than what I thought I was going to do before,” Dul said in an Instagram post.
The day was historic across the roster. Twenty-nine Lincoln-Way West runners posted personal records at the meet, marking one of the team’s strongest collective showings in recent seasons. Among the highlights, freshman Tyler Jastrzab climbed to No. 8 on the program’s all-time freshman list. Sophomore Parker Ethridge moved into sixth on the all-time sophomore list, while junior Hunter Spee became the third-fastest junior in school history.
Coach and teammates praised the Warriors’ depth and progress as they continued to build momentum against some of the state’s top competition. With a mix of seasoned leaders and rising underclassmen, West showcased its ability to compete at a high level.
