Boys track team breaks nine records at Wheaton North invite

The Warrior boys track and field team achieved a remarkable feat on Saturday, April 12, at the Wheaton North Invite by breaking nine school records and securing several event victories.

Brendan Vlasak set a new school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.61 seconds. Anthony Lusciatti also broke a record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 38.87 seconds. The 4×800-meter relay team, consisting of John Kennedy, Lusciatti, Nick Dul, and Hunter Spee, completed their race in 8:05, setting another record.

In field events, Ryan Stiglic cleared 15 feet, 2 inches in pole vault. Quinn Forsythe established a new triple jump mark at 41 feet, 3 inches. Freshmen Broden Newman, Benjamin DeMaertelaere, and Zaven Johnson set records in shot put (42-3), discus (121-5), and high jump (5-9), respectively. Senior Austin Rowswell recorded a time of 10.94 seconds to set the school record for the 100-meter dash.

According to the team’s performance report, several athletes posted top ten all-time school marks across various events including sprints, middle distances, and relays. Event winners included Rowswell in the 100 meters, Johnson in the 400 meters, Vlasak in the 110-meter hurdles, Lusciatti in the 300-meter hurdles, and three relay teams: the 4×200 meters, the 4×400 meters, and the 4×800 meters.

Lincoln-Way West’s performance was noted as one of the most successful meets in program history.
