Lincoln-Way West’s boys water polo team demonstrated its capabilities on Saturday, securing a second-place finish at the Warrior Invitational.
According to the team’s performance records, the Warriors began with an 18-4 victory over Warren Township, showcasing a strong offense and solid defense. They then secured a 14-5 win against McHenry, maintaining control throughout the match.
In the championship game, Lincoln-Way West faced William Fremd and despite their efforts, they were defeated 11-6. The team’s overall performance underscored their status as one of the leading teams in the region.
“Our guys fought every minute of every game,” head coach Nick Schaub said. “We’re proud of the way they represented Lincoln-Way West. This tournament showed how dangerous we can be.”
Schaub highlighted that senior leadership, effective ball movement, and aggressive defensive strategies were pivotal throughout the day, reflecting Lincoln-Way West’s development this season. The Warriors currently hold a 17-6 record and have consistently shown resilience and skill, with aspirations for a successful postseason.
