The Lincoln-Way West boys varsity water polo team continued its strong start to the season with a decisive 19-3 victory over Bremen on Wednesday evening.
According to the team’s senior player, Tyler Stasiak, he led the offensive charge for the Warriors by scoring a game-high seven goals. Junior Matt Wolf added four goals to help propel Lincoln-Way West to its fifth win of the season. The Warriors improved their record to 5-1 with this dominant performance.
From the opening whistle, Lincoln-Way West controlled the pace, using quick ball movement and aggressive defense to stifle Bremen’s offense. The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and maintained it, capitalizing on counterattacks and efficient shooting to build a commanding advantage by halftime.
“We came into this game looking to set the tempo early,” head coach Nick Schaub said. “Our guys executed well on both ends of the pool, and we were able to get contributions from multiple players, which is always great to see.”
In addition to Stasiak and Wolf’s standout performances, several other players contributed to the Warriors’ dominant showing. Their defensive unit limited Bremen’s scoring chances, allowing just three goals throughout the match.
Lincoln-Way West has been on a roll since the start of the season, displaying a potent offensive attack and strong defensive play. With Wednesday’s win, Schaub’s team looks to carry their momentum into their next matchup.
The team will return to action later this week as they prepare for a key conference game. With a 5-1 record, Lincoln-Way West remains focused on building on its early-season success as it pushes toward postseason play.
