Senior pitcher Abby Brueggmann delivered a complete-game shutout on Friday, leading Lincoln-Way West to a 3-0 victory over Bradley in Southwest Suburban Conference play.
According to the game report, Brueggmann was dominant from the outset, allowing only three hits over seven innings. She struck out seven batters and did not issue any walks, improving the Warriors’ record to 17-9 overall and 6-6 in league competition.
Lincoln-Way West took an early lead in the second inning when junior Reese Cusack hit a two-run home run to left field, giving the Warriors a 2-0 advantage. Cusack finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored.
In the fourth inning, Paige Seivert led off with a single and later scored on a double by Reese Rourke. Rourke also went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run. The Warriors accumulated six hits during the game.
Brueggmann contributed offensively as well with a double, while Kaylea Armstrong added another extra-base hit for Lincoln-Way West.
The shutout marked a strong recovery for the Warriors as they aim to build momentum heading into the weekend. Lincoln-Way West is scheduled to return home Saturday morning to face Naperville Central, with the first pitch set for 11 a.m.
