Lincoln-Way West’s girls’ varsity tennis team may have fallen 6-1 to rival Lincoln-Way East on Sept. 16, but the Warriors showed resilience at the top of the lineup.
No. 1 doubles partners Grace Cremieux and Elle Pruim delivered a standout performance, grinding out a three-set victory, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. The win highlighted their composure and toughness against one of the toughest opponents on West’s schedule.
“Grace and Elle played with heart, and it was a great effort by our girls across the board,” head coach John Cupp said.
While the scoreboard favored East, the annual rivalry match again showcased the Warriors’ grit and determination against a talented group led by East coach Wes Cooley. Every court featured long rallies and competitive play, reflecting the steady progress of West’s lineup.
The Warriors, now 4-5 on the season, will look to carry the momentum from their top-doubles triumph into their next match Sept. 18 at Andrew
