The LWW girls volleyball season has come to a close after a loss in sectionals this year. Although the loss at sectionals was gut-wrenching the girls finished the season with an impressive 25-13 record overall.
When asked about her point of view on the season in general, Coach Kendall Villa gave an interesting aspect on the question.
“I think the season went somewhat in the direction of the expectations. We were regional champs and had a shot at getting past that first round of sectionals,” Villa said. “It was disappointing to lose, but we were the underdogs going into this one. I would not have done anything differently.”
While all the girls contributed to the success of the year, one player really stood out to Villa.
“I would like to give a shoutout to Elly Decker,” Villa said. “She is on the quieter side sometimes, and she is such a tremendous person. She plays selflessly for her team and is always hopeful.”
The girls do not have an off-season, like in most sports. The team has divided and rolled into their separate club programs, and are continuing to shine on the court.
