Lincoln-Way West alum and new Butler rusher Billy Dozier is enjoying his new home in Indianapolis amassing 11 rushing yards on 10 carries and three passes for five receiving yards in Butler’s Sept. 7 19-17 win over Murray State.
A transfer to the private university from Northern Illinois, Dozier has seen action on the gridiron for the Bulldogs. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound graduate student has appeared in two games so far in the 2024 campaign. In the season opener against Upper Iowa on Aug. 31, Dozier introduced himself with 23 yards on the ground on six carries.
Before transferring to Butler, Dozier made a big impact as a Northern Illinois Husky throughout the 2020-2023 seasons, receiving multiple accolades and proving himself to be an all purpose utility player on offense and special teams.
During his time at Lincoln-Way, Dozier garnered honorable mention ISHA All-State accolades, All-Southwest Suburban Conference, and Lincoln-Way West Player of the Year 2019, setting school records for most receiving yards in a season, most receiving yards in a game, and most catches in a game.
Butler is currently 3-0, with a home matchup against Virginia University of Lynchburg on Sept. 28.
