According to the game details, Essenburg allowed just two hits and three runs across three innings on the mound, issuing three walks. At the plate, he achieved a 2-for-5 performance and drove in three runs, including a decisive shot to left field that broke a 5-5 tie in the sixth inning.
Lincoln-Way West managed to rally after falling behind 2-0 in the first inning when Troy’s Hayden Frey tripled in two runs. The Warriors gained a 3-2 lead in the third inning, aided by a Michael Pettit sacrifice fly and two errors committed by Troy. After exchanging runs in the third and fourth innings, Troy tied the game again in the fifth with a Brody Hoke triple.
Anthony Vita secured the win for Lincoln-Way West as a relief pitcher, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings while striking out five without issuing any walks. Pettit contributed with two hits, while Quentin Lange went 3-for-3 at the bottom of the order.
Jake Reinhardt started for Troy, conceding five runs (two earned) over four innings. Carsen Riddle had two hits, and Frey drove in two runs for the Trojans.
