Lincoln-Way West’s varsity softball team narrowly lost in an extra-inning game on Wednesday, falling 7-6 to Lincoln-Way Central at home.
According to the game details, the Warriors’ record fell to 16-9 after this non-conference matchup, which saw both teams exchanging momentum throughout the evening. West managed to tie the game late, forcing extra innings. However, Central scored the decisive run in the top of the eighth inning and maintained their lead for the victory.
Senior Molly Finn led the Warriors’ offense with a performance that included going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. Paige Seivert also contributed significantly by finishing 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBIs, and a run.
Reese Rourke bolstered the offensive effort with a 2-for-3 outing that featured two doubles, a walk, and a run scored. Reese Cusack added value with a double and one run scored. Despite this loss, West demonstrated resilience and remains a strong contender as they approach postseason play.
The Warriors aim to recover from this defeat when they travel to face Bradley-Bourbonnais on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way Central improved their record with this win, concluding an intense rivalry matchup in dramatic fashion.
