The Lincoln-Way West girls varsity badminton team competed at the Hinsdale South Quad on Wednesday, securing a third-place finish with 12 points in a competitive tournament.
According to reports, the Warriors opened against host Hinsdale South, engaging in tight matches but narrowly losing 3-5. Several games were decided by the final points, with Lincoln-Way West challenging their opponents significantly. In their second match, the Warriors faced Lyons Township and fell 2-6 despite their efforts. The players demonstrated resilience in long rallies, keeping matches close but ultimately missing key victories.
The team rebounded strongly against DeKalb, achieving a 7-1 victory. Lincoln-Way West controlled the pace of play, executing precise shots and strategic maneuvers to overpower their opponent. This commanding win showcased the Warriors’ ability to adapt and finish strong.
Despite finishing third overall, the Warriors’ performance indicated they can compete with top teams. Head coach Chris Hack praised the team’s determination throughout the tournament. “The girls played with intensity today,” Hack said. “We had some tough matchups, but they never backed down. I’m proud of their effort and how they finished against DeKalb.”
Lincoln-Way West now shifts its focus to Saturday’s Birds of Steel Tournament at Joliet Central. With growing confidence and valuable experience from Wednesday’s competition, the Warriors are eager to make an impact in upcoming matches.
