Lincoln-Way West girls wrestlers are capitalizing on summer training opportunities through weekly open mat sessions hosted by Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
According to organizers, the sessions, held every Tuesday, bring together female wrestlers from across the region for live matches and skill development. This initiative aims to foster growth in the sport behind the scenes. Lincoln-Way West expressed gratitude to HF girls wrestling and Coach Scott Aronson for providing this opportunity.
“These summer open mats are about more than just mat time,” one organizer said. “They’re about community, competition and building confidence.” The commitment shown by athletes and coaches alike is indicative of continued momentum for girls wrestling in Illinois, which has seen increased participation and recognition in recent years.
With collaboration between programs like HF and Lincoln-Way West, the future of girls wrestling continues to gain strength.
