Lincoln-Way West Warriors girls volleyball team traveled to play in the Oak Lawn H.S. Spartan Classic, Friday-Saturday, Sept. 20-21.
The Warriors’ four-team pool included Richards, Romeoville and Thornwood. In pool play, the Warriors’ first game is versus Romeoville on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and their second, versus Thornwood on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
Lincoln-Way West High School triumphed in all its matches over the weekend, securing 2-0 victories against Romeoville High School and Richards High School on Friday, and Thornwood High School on Saturday.
Matches in the Oak Lawn Spartan Classic consist of the best two out of three. Games are to 25 with no cap. If a third game is necessary, it is to 15 points with no cap.
In 2023, LWW won the Spartan Classic, defeating Rich Township and Richards in pool play, both in straight sets, then defeating Evergreen Park in the semifinals and Romeoville in the championship. Caroline Smith was named 2023 MVP. Laney Tuttle made the all-tournament team.
