Let’s talk about absolute domination.
Lincoln Way West routed Centennial High 64-0 on Oct. 11, setting a school-record for most points in a game.
The Warriors gave Centennial their worst loss of the season.
The Warriors started the game red hot, scoring six touchdowns in the first quarter. Auston Rowswell scored twice, and Chase Hetfleisch, Ryan Stiglic, Jahan Abubakar, and Jimmy Talley each scored touchdowns for the Warriors.
The game was essentially over after the first quarter, but LWW continued scoring and the teams went into the locker room with the scoreboard reading 54-0.
When the Warriors came out for the second half, they went ahead and sent in their backup quarterback, Grant Tustin, who kept the rout going.
Tustin got the team in scoring position two more times over the course of the third and fourth quarters.
The first time resulted in a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Jackson O’Connor, and the second time ended with a 41-yard field goal courtesy of kicker Zach Hermanson.
Centennial’s offense could not move the ball all night. Lincoln Way held the Chargers to an eye-popping total of 10 yards on offense, a number almost unheard of. The Warriors defense held Centennial to -5 yards on the ground, and just 15 yards passing.
Leading the LWW defense was Jackson Mansker, who totaled up two solo tackles, two assists, and accounted for two more tackles for loss.
Hetfleisch ended his first half of play, throwing for 133 yards on six pass attempts, each of which he completed, and three touchdowns.
Abubakar had a good night running the ball, scoring two touchdowns on the night, while running for 86 yards on 9 rushing attempts.
Lincoln Way West is now 4-3 on the season, and will look to continue this kind of domination against Lockport on 10/18. Lockport stands with a losing record of 2-3 and is coming off a 47-14 loss to Lincoln Way East.
