Lincoln‑Way West fell to Sandburg 57–55 in a razor‑thin Southwest Suburban Conference home defeat, coming nearly two months after their previous meeting.
The loss, played Feb. 5 on the Warriors’ home floor, snapped Lincoln-Way West’s strong momentum and mirrored the heartbreak of their earlier clash with the Eagles.
The Lady Warriors battled possession-for-possession all night, matching Sandburg’s intensity and refusing to let the Eagles pull away. Lincoln-Way West stayed within striking distance behind disciplined defense and timely scoring, keeping the outcome in doubt until the final seconds. Despite the narrow loss, the Warriors showed resilience against a conference rival in one of their tightest contests of the season.
Lincoln-Way West executed well in key stretches and forced Sandburg to earn every point, highlighting the team’s competitiveness deep into conference play. The result marked another hard-fought chapter in a closely contested rivalry, with the Warriors poised to bounce back as the season enters its final stretch.
Sandburg entered at 13–16, but executed late to hand the Lady Warriors another narrow setback. The defeat also came on the heels of Lincoln-Way West’s loss to Lockport, which ended a six-game home winning streak and dropped the Warriors to 17–10 overall.
Even with the skid, Lincoln-Way West has proven it can respond, including last season’s 37–33 home win over Downers Grove North.
The Warriors will look to regain their edge as they prepare for Saturday’s non-conference matchup against Downers Grove North.
