Lincoln-Way West defeated Bremen 9–6 in a non‑conference season opener, a matchup that also mirrored last year’s opener when the Warriors began their season against Bremen and earned a 9–3 win on March 11.
This season’s game was also played March 11, and while the Warriors hosted the Bremen Braves last year, Wednesday’s matchup shifted to Bremen High School, giving West a familiar opponent but a different setting for their season opener.
Lincoln-Way West overcame a slow start after being held scoreless in the opening quarter while Bremen built an early 2-0 lead. The Warriors responded with a dominant second quarter, scoring four unanswered goals while shutting out the Braves to take a 4-2 halftime advantage. Bremen battled back in the third period, outscoring Lincoln-Way West 3-2 to narrow the margin to 6-5 entering the final frame.
Isabella Shenberger led the offense with four goals, while Liv Senesac and Melanie Schulz each scored twice and Natalie Briese to secure the win and open the season with back‑to‑back March 11 victories over the Braves.
Lincoln-Way West now turns its attention to a home matchup against Hinsdale South on Tuesday, March 17, a non‑conference test that offers the Warriors an early chance to build rhythm on their own deck and extend the momentum they generated in their season opener.
The teams last met March 18, 2025, when Lincoln-Way West controlled the matchup from the opening sprint, powering to a 16–10 win behind a fast start and a steady scoring pace that kept the Hornets chasing throughout.
