Lincoln-Way West boys varsity soccer rallied late to earn a 2-1 victory over Kankakee on Saturday morning.
The Warriors trailed 1-0 at halftime after Kankakee struck in the opening 40 minutes. West regrouped after the break and evened the score when Marcel Lepionka found the back of the net midway through the second half.
With the match appearing destined for a draw, the Warriors surged forward in the final minutes. Ryan Saysongkham delivered the decisive goal with just 1 minute, 8 seconds remaining, sending West to its second win of the season.
The victory improved the Warriors to 2-4 overall and provided momentum heading into a challenging week. West will face Homewood-Flossmoor and crosstown rival Lincoln-Way Central in its next matches.
