Lincoln-Way Girls Wrestling made a significant impact at the HF Viking Invitational on July 19, sending 13 current and future athletes to compete. Many of these athletes were participating in their first matches, and they returned with a collection of medals.
The summer tournament, hosted by Homewood-Flossmoor High School, provided Lincoln-Way wrestlers with an opportunity to compete in a supportive environment. According to the program, the invitational was designed to help athletes gain match experience, sharpen technique, and build camaraderie.
Lincoln-Way achieved three first-place finishes with Caleigh Nicholson, Claire Bray, and Abigail Kunz each earning gold in their respective brackets. Second-place honors went to Emmy Hoselton, Dani Schedin, Aryana Moran, Jalyssa Venegas, and Aubrey Barnes. Liv Clumpner and McKenzie Stienke secured third-place positions. Zoe Zerial, Grace Spangler, and Amelia Galarza finished just off the podium with fourth-place showings.
“This was a perfect little tournament for our girls to come together and showcase some of their skills,” the program said. “Congratulations, ladies — keep grinding!” The event marked a significant step forward for Lincoln-Way Girls Wrestling as it builds depth and experience heading into the fall season.
Special thanks were extended to Homewood-Flossmoor Girls Wrestling and the HF Wrestling program for hosting and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all athletes.
