The Lincoln-Way girls wrestling team wrapped up a successful season highlighted by seven state qualifiers and two IHSA state medalists.
The IHSA Girls Wrestling State Finals were held Feb. 28–March 1 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington, where Lincoln-Way competitors took the mat against the best wrestlers from across Illinois.
Zoe Dempsey led the way for the program with a third-place finish at 115 pounds, earning a spot on the state podium after battling through a competitive bracket. Her performance marked one of the top finishes for the team at the state tournament.
Ella Giertuga also delivered a strong showing, placing fifth at 145 pounds to bring home another state medal for the program. Giertuga’s run through the bracket highlighted the depth and determination of the Lincoln-Way roster.
In total, seven wrestlers from the Lincoln-Way girls program qualified for the IHSA State Finals, an impressive accomplishment that reflects the team’s continued dedication throughout the season.
The season showcased the hard work and commitment of the athletes and coaches as the Lincoln-Way girls wrestling program continues to build momentum. With multiple state qualifiers and two medalists, the team’s performance at the state finals capped a memorable year on the mat.
