The Lincoln-Way girls wrestling team demonstrated a commanding performance at the Minooka Thanksgiving Throwdown, securing the team championship with a 120-point lead over East Aurora.
The event was held on November 27 at Minooka High School. According to the results, the Warriors advanced seven wrestlers to the finals and concluded the night with 13 podium finishes across 14 weight classes.
Returning All-State senior Zoe Dempsey captured the 120-pound title with a second-period fall over Geneseo’s Lydia King, who is a 2025 All-State selection. Zoe Zerial won at 115 pounds, Liv Clumpner topped the 140-pound field, and Ella Giertuga secured the 145-pound crown, each earning their first varsity tournament championships.
Other medalists included McKenzie Steinke, who placed second at 100 pounds; Grace Spangler, third at 110 pounds; Georgia Erhardt, fourth at 110 pounds; Dani Schedin, fourth at 130 pounds; Abby Kunz, second at 140 pounds; Riley Depolo, second at 170 pounds; and Jalyssa Venegas, fourth at 235 pounds. Emmy Hoselton finished fifth at 105 pounds and Aubrey Barnes also took fifth place at 125 pounds.
Coaches said that these results reflect rapid growth from a largely young lineup now in only its second and third seasons. Lincoln-Way leaves the holiday tournament with momentum and rising expectations. The Warriors return to practice focused on tougher conference tests and a postseason push fueled by depth, balance, and confidence.
