The Lincoln-Way girls gymnastics co-op program capped its postseason run with multiple athletes competing at the IHSA Girls Gymnastics State Finals on Feb. 21 at Palatine High School.
The event marked a significant achievement for the Lincoln-Way program, as both underclassmen and upperclassmen contributed to the team’s advancement through sectional competition and into the state finals. The appearance at state highlighted the depth of talent across all four schools participating in the co-op.
Freshman Reagan Saysongkham from Lincoln-Way West earned her spot at the state meet following a strong performance at sectionals, competing against some of Illinois’ top gymnasts. According to information from <a href="https://www.lw210.org/o/west”>the school district, “Saysongkham’s appearance highlighted the continued development of young talent within the Lincoln-Way program as she gained valuable experience competing on the state stage early in her high school career… The co-op team also received strong postseason contributions from upperclassmen throughout the qualifying rounds.”
Senior Flynn Meyer of Lincoln-Way East posted scores that included a 9.50 on vault, 9.30 on uneven bars, 8.70 on balance beam, 8.80 on floor exercise, and a 9.40 among her scoring marks during sectional competition. Junior Jillian Riebe, also from Lincoln-Way East, added consistent performances with scores of 9.15 on vault, 9.30 on bars, and 9.225 on floor exercise, contributing to the program’s postseason success.According to information provided by Lincoln-Way West, “Lincoln-Way’s state appearance capped another competitive season for the co-op program, showcasing contributions from athletes across all four schools.”
