Lincoln-Way West girls varsity volleyball put together a strong showing at the Oak Lawn Tournament over the weekend, winning three matches before falling in the championship.
The Warriors opened play Friday with back-to-back sweeps. They defeated Thornwood 25-10, 25-13 behind Claire Murphy’s 13 assists and three aces, while Lily Goyer added eight kills. Later that evening, West downed Eisenhower 25-9, 25-8. Goyer again led the attack with 11 kills, while Kaylea Armstrong added six. Sophia Rozga sparked the defense with six aces and four digs.
On Saturday morning, West edged Marian Catholic in three sets, 19-25, 25-9, 25-12, to advance into the Gold Bracket. Goyer tallied 11 kills and Armstrong seven, while Murphy distributed 19 assists with two aces. The Warriors carried the momentum into their matchup with Providence Catholic, winning 25-19, 27-25. Goyer finished with nine kills and two aces, and Murphy added 13 assists.
In the championship against St. Laurence, West came up short, dropping the final 25-18, 25-16. Kara Stigter led with eight kills and two digs, while Rozga added three aces and 10 digs.
