Lincoln-Way West boys basketball fell 64–52 to Lincoln-Way East in a home conference matchup.
The game was played Jan. 30 at Lincoln-Way West High School, where the Warriors stayed within reach before the margin widened late.
Lincoln-Way West competed from the opening tip and kept the game close through the first half, matching East’s energy and physical play. The Warriors generated offense by pushing the pace and attacking the basket, creating quality scoring chances on the offensive end. Lincoln-Way West continued to battle after halftime, putting together defensive stops and working to close the gap during multiple stretches of the second half.
Luke Gouty led the Warriors with 18 points, providing a steady scoring presence throughout the night. Drake Been added 13 points as Lincoln-Way West continued to look for ways to shift momentum. The Warriors showed resilience down the stretch, competing on the glass and contesting shots as they worked to cut into the deficit.
Up next Lincoln-Way West will travel to Homewood-Flossmoor on Feb. 10 for a conference matchup scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The last time they played Homewood-Flossmoor on Feb. 11, the Warriors dropped an 83–55 decision.
