Lincoln-Way West’s boys varsity basketball team concluded the regular season with a decisive 72-35 victory over Richards on Thursday night.
According to the team’s performance, the Warriors, playing at home, secured a nonconference win to finish the season with a 14-16 record. Senior guard Nick Brezniak led the scoring effort with 15 points, while three teammates also reached double figures. Max Gabriel contributed 12 points, Drake Been added 11, and Wyatt Carlson finished with 10.
The game was controlled by West from the start, utilizing strong defense and balanced scoring to establish an early lead. The Warriors’ offense maintained its rhythm throughout, overwhelming Richards with efficient shooting and teamwork.
With the regular season behind them, Lincoln-Way West now turns its focus to the playoffs. The Warriors will face Lincoln-Way East in the first round on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at East.
Head coach Tanner Mitchell praised the team’s effort and momentum heading into the postseason. “We played with great energy and executed well on both ends of the floor. This was the kind of performance we wanted heading into the playoffs,” he said.
The Warriors aim to carry their winning form into the postseason as they strive for a deep playoff run.
