The Lincoln-Way West boys varsity cross country team began its season with a commendable performance on Saturday, securing second place at the Hokem Karam meet. The event was hosted by Intrinsic Schools at Harms Woods.
According to the results, the Warriors accumulated 27 points in the six-mile relay event, finishing behind Jones College Prep. The format of the race paired runners together for alternating splits. Six athletes from Lincoln-Way West earned medals: Tyler Jastrzab, Anthony Lusciatti, Nathan Davis, Parker Ethridge, Nick Dul, and Ethan Brauch. Additional contributions came from Adrian Acosta, Quinn Cecich, Hunter Spee, and Luke Bergen.
The meet’s format tested both endurance and teamwork as each duo traded miles over the course of the relay. Times and splits are available online. The head coach noted that the team’s balance between experienced runners and new varsity competitors provided momentum for the early season.
