Lincoln-Way West boys’ soccer team is finding its stride at a crucial time, climbing in the conference standings with determined performances and timely victories.
The Warriors began their season with a decisive 9-0 win over ACERO Garcia on August 26, setting an early tone. According to the team’s performance record, after enduring a challenging stretch of nonconference play that included narrow losses to Lemont, Bloom, and Joliet Central, Lincoln-Way West demonstrated resilience by regrouping once league play commenced.
This turnaround was evident on September 20 when the Warriors narrowly defeated Kankakee 2-1 to secure their second victory. The momentum continued into September 23, where Lincoln-Way West outlasted Homewood-Flossmoor 4-3 in a thrilling contest that highlighted both attacking prowess and determination.
Although Lincoln-Way West dropped a close rivalry match at Lincoln-Way Central on September 27, they rebounded convincingly with a 2-0 shutout of Bradley-Bourbonnais on September 30. This victory improved their record to 2-1 in SouthWest Suburban Blue play, placing them fourth in a competitive race behind Lockport, Central, and Stagg.
With an overall record of 4-5-1 and having scored 21 goals, Lincoln-Way West has shown it can compete with any team. With upcoming matches against Sandburg and Lockport, the Warriors aim to continue their ascent in the standings.
