0Comments

The Lincoln-Way West Competitive Dance Team, under the leadership of Head Coach Melissa Sweeney, is preparing for a new challenge as the winter season commences.

According to Sweeney, the Warriors are entering the season with enthusiasm and determination as they transition into a new competitive division. “We are excited for the challenge of entering a new division,” she said. “Our team has worked hard during the off-season and will be debuting an exciting routine this winter.”

Sweeney expressed her hopes for her athletes’ growth both as performers and teammates throughout the season. “I hope the athletes have fun, continue to work well together, gain new skills, and that they are proud of each performance,” she added.

The Lincoln-Way West dance program has established a strong legacy since the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) competitive dance format began in 2012–13. The Warriors have qualified for state every year, earned seven sectional titles, and were crowned State Runner-Up in 2024. With their tradition of excellence and commitment, the team aims to maintain its success in this new era of competition.
