The Lincoln-Way West Warriors emerged victorious against their cross-town rivals, Lincoln-Way Central, in a wrestling dual meet on Thursday night. The Warriors secured a decisive 47-24 win.
According to the match details, Lincoln-Way West established an early lead by winning seven of the first eight weight classes. The competition commenced with Charlie Tustin’s victory in the 106-pound category. Brady Glynn followed with a dominant performance over Devin De La Vega at 113 pounds, achieving a technical fall in just over three minutes. Max Munn continued the momentum by pinning Eric Hoselton at 120 pounds within 3:23.
The Warriors maintained their strong performance with Shane Stream pinning Alex Kedzior at 126 pounds and Carter Dibenedetto securing a major decision over Michael Heimberg at 132 pounds.
Lincoln-Way Central made some progress when Jadon Zimmer won against Henry Finley by technical fall in the 138-pound match. However, Jack Strezo of Lincoln-Way West quickly regained momentum with an 18-3 technical fall over Ryne Nape at 144 pounds.
At 150 pounds, Ethan Harvey from Lincoln-Way Central earned an 8-3 decision against Haden Anderson, slightly narrowing the gap. Nevertheless, Lincoln-Way West responded strongly as Yakub Jaber pinned Charlie Stream at 157 pounds after a challenging contest.
In the upper weight classes, Caden Harvey pinned Brennan Whitesell at 165 pounds for Lincoln-Way Central in under two minutes. Similarly, Jalen Byrd defeated Logan Biggs by fall at 175 pounds.
Jimmy Talley then contributed to Lincoln-Way West’s success by defeating Justin Langford with a technical fall at 190 pounds. The evening concluded with Brandon Bavirsha winning by major decision over Logan Wooten at 215 pounds and Nathan Elstner pinning Aiden Hennings in just over one minute at 285 pounds.
