Lincoln-Way West boys basketball defeated Stagg 71–51 in a Southwest Suburban Conference victory, extending its winning streak to five games.
The game was played Jan. 13 at Lincoln-Way West High School in New Lenox, Illinois.
The Warriors were led by senior guard Drake Been, who poured in 31 points and tied a school record with nine 3-pointers, repeatedly stretching the defense with his range and shooting confidence. Senior forward Eiden Kubilius added 16 points by finishing inside and knocking down timely shots, while senior guard Jaxson Bills provided a spark off the bench with 11 points to round out a balanced scoring attack.
Lincoln-Way West controlled the pace throughout the night, using sharp perimeter shooting and steady defensive pressure to build separation and hold Stagg to 51 points. The Warriors limited Stagg’s transition opportunities, forced contested looks in the half court, and stayed disciplined on rotations, allowing them to gradually extend the lead and pull away over the final two quarters.
Up next, Lincoln-Way West will host Lincoln-Way Central at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
The two teams last met Dec. 19 at Lincoln-Way Central, where the Knights defeated the Warriors 56–53 in overtime.
