The Warriors delivered a hard-fought performance against their crosstown rival, Lincoln-Way East, but ultimately fell short in a thrilling three-set match. Both teams exchanged momentum throughout the evening in one of the most competitive conference showdowns of the season.
The match took place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort. The packed gymnasium contributed to an intense rivalry atmosphere.
According to reports from the game, Lincoln-Way West started strong in the opening set, using aggressive serves and steady play from their front line to secure a 25–19 win. Lincoln-Way East responded in the second set with improved ball control and clutch play late in the game to even the match at 25–22. In the deciding third set, the Griffins managed to pull ahead during the final points, edging out the Warriors 25–19 to seal their victory.
Despite their loss, Lincoln-Way West demonstrated balance and determination throughout. Senior outside hitter Ava Carey led their attack with several key kills. Setter Emma Tuma maintained offensive flow with precise passing and quick sets. Libero Bella Hart anchored their defense with numerous digs and well-timed saves, keeping them within striking distance during long rallies.
“I’m proud of how we competed,” said head coach Jenna Price. “Our team stayed composed, played together, and showed the kind of fight that will serve us well as we move forward.”
With this narrow defeat, Lincoln-Way West’s record stands at 17–8 overall. They remain one of the area’s most resilient squads and will look to bounce back when they travel to face Andrew on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
