The Lincoln-Way West Warriors boys varsity soccer team was defeated by the Lincoln-Way East Griffins with a score of 2-0 on Tuesday night.
According to reports, the SouthWest Suburban Conference matchup took place on October 14 at Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort. The Griffins secured an early lead, scoring 1-0 in the first half and adding another goal after halftime. Despite a strong defensive effort and several saves from the Warriors’ goalkeeper, Lincoln-Way West was unable to capitalize on its scoring opportunities. Lincoln-Way East maintained control of possession for much of the game, using its passing strategy to keep the Warriors on the defensive.
Lincoln-Way West, now holding a record of 0-2, will focus on postseason play as they prepare to face Joliet Central in the first round of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) playoffs next Wednesday, October 22, at 6 p.m. The game is scheduled to take place at Joliet Central High School.
The previous encounter between Lincoln-Way West and Lincoln-Way East concluded similarly, with the Griffins achieving a 3-1 victory. The Warriors aim to regroup and gain momentum as they pursue their first postseason win of the year.
