The Lincoln-Way West High School Girls Basketball Team, led by Head Coach Ryan White, is gearing up for the upcoming season with a combination of seasoned players and promising newcomers.
According to White, the team will be relying on four returning starters from last year’s squad, which finished with a 23-12 record and reached the sectional final. The team faces the challenge of replacing Caroline Smith, a four-year varsity starter and Southwest Suburban Conference (SWSC) Player of the Year. Senior Molly Finn, also a four-year varsity starter, along with senior Ava Tisch and juniors Mackenzie Roesner and Reagan McCracken, each boasting three years of varsity experience, are expected to lead the team. Freshmen Lucy Sheriff, Kacie Sheriff, and Haley Trench are anticipated to contribute significantly alongside returning players Kaitlyn Weaver, Heaven Ward, and Sophia Murphy.
White said that the team’s objectives are straightforward: compete for the conference title and advance to sectionals. With a blend of experienced leadership and rising talent, Lincoln-Way West aims to build on last season’s achievements in the SWSC.
