The Lincoln-Way West girls’ cross country team secured a fifth-place finish at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Regional.
The event took place on Saturday, October 25th at Mokena Park in Mokena, Illinois.
According to the event details, the regional competition was hosted by Lincoln-Way Central. Lincoln-Way West scored 163 points, finishing among the top six teams and thereby advancing to the next stage.
The team’s success was attributed to strong pack running. Freshman Neve McSherry led with a 26th-place finish, followed by Ally Dean in 32nd position. Other team members, including Penny Pinciak, Celest Reiling, Kate Lemke, Adriana Litro, and Ava Ferrucci, all finished within the top 40. The close finish times among these athletes highlighted their depth and consistency in a competitive field.
Lincoln-Way West is set to compete at the IHSA Sectional meet at Maxwell Park in Normal, Illinois.
In their previous regional matchup against Lincoln-Way Central, West placed sixth overall.
