Lincoln-Way West Girls Swim Team Closes Season with Strong Sectional Performance

The Lincoln-Way West girls’ swim team concluded its season with a commendable performance at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Sectional.

The competition took place on Saturday, November 8, at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.

According to the team’s report, the Warriors were led by standout performances from Brooke Martenz, who secured fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 500 freestyle. Lily Conoboy finished sixth in both the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Amelia Benz also contributed with a strong sixth-place finish in the 500 freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay team, consisting of Conoboy, Isabella Shenberger, Benz, and Martenz, achieved a fourth-place finish to complete the team’s top results.

Head coach Eric Pavlacka praised the team’s effort and unity. “It was a complete team effort — everyone gave their best performances of the season,” Pavlacka said.
