The Lincoln-Way West girls’ gymnastics team achieved a significant milestone over the weekend by securing a third-place finish at the state competition, marking the highest placement in the program’s history.
According to reports, Lincoln-Way competed as a full team for the first time and entered the weekend with a focus on enjoying the moment and executing well-practiced routines. During Friday’s team competition, strong performances led to four gymnasts qualifying for the individual finals.
Rylee Miller and April Madison were among the first to compete on Saturday, delivering solid routines on bars. Miller improved her score from day one, contributing positively to the team’s overall standing. Lainey Lekki followed with a flawless routine on beam, earning her a sixth-place finish. Jillian Riebe completed the competition on floor exercises, performing to Taylor Swift music and maintaining high energy levels within the team.
As final scores were announced, Lincoln-Way secured third place—a milestone achievement for a program that had never previously placed higher than sixth at state competitions. “Bringing home the big trophy and seeing all the girls’ hard work pay off was truly a gift,” said the team.
