Lincoln-Way West commemorated a significant occasion on Friday night by honoring Principal Dr. Ted Robbins as the school’s honorary captain during the coin toss preceding its home playoff game.
Robbins, who served as the Warriors’ founding athletic director when the school opened in 2009, was recognized at midfield for his foundational role in building the athletic program that now defines the school’s culture.
According to school officials, the ceremony marked the 15th anniversary of Lincoln-Way West’s first home playoff game, a 40-35 victory over Peoria Dunlap in 2009. Robbins was credited with assembling the school’s inaugural coaching staff, developing athletic facilities, and establishing standards that emphasized character, accountability, and mentorship for student-athletes.
Administrators praised Robbins for cultivating expectations that remain in place across all varsity sports, contributing to the school’s reputation for both competitive success and leadership development. His influence extends far beyond wins and losses, shaping a culture centered on teamwork and personal growth.
