The Lincoln-Way West girls’ tennis team honored its six seniors during a home match against Lockport on Tuesday night. The team recognized the contributions of Grace Cremieux, Charlotte Gauthier, Gabby Gentle, Elle Pruim, Amy Texpa, and McKenna Williams.
According to the team’s schedule, although the Warriors were defeated 7-0 by Lockport, the event served as an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and leadership these seniors have shown over their four years with the team. The following day, West continued conference play by hosting Minooka in another challenging match that also ended in a 7-0 loss. Despite this outcome, the Warriors demonstrated improvement by focusing on fundamentals and preparing for future matches.
The highlight of the week occurred on Thursday when West traveled to Stagg. Senior McKenna Williams delivered an impressive performance at No. 3 singles, winning her match 6-3, 6-4 to earn the team’s only point. Her victory exemplified perseverance and hard work against a formidable opponent.
Looking ahead to Saturday, West will host a 12-team invitational. With conference play nearing its conclusion, the team aims to use this tournament as a source of momentum while continuing to rely on the leadership of its senior class.
