The Lincoln-Way West boys junior varsity golf team maintained its strong start to the season on Tuesday afternoon, securing first place at the Lockport Quad with a team score of 166.
According to reports, the Warriors edged their competition with a balanced effort across the lineup, led by freshman Colton Gagan. Gagan shot a 39 to claim medalist honors, finishing as the top individual in the meet. Right behind him was Judah Portwood, who carded a 40 to provide steady scoring for Lincoln-Way West in the second slot. Completing the team totals were Kaleb Kopacz with a 42 and Caiden Catellier with a 45, securing the Warriors’ position at the top of the leaderboard.
The four scores gave Lincoln-Way West a combined total of 166, which proved sufficient to finish ahead of the other three competing schools. While official tallies from opposing teams were not provided, West’s depth and consistency set the tone throughout the round.
The Warriors’ junior varsity squad continues to showcase promise for the program’s future, as multiple golfers contributed to Tuesday’s victory. With strong early-season performances, the team looks to build momentum heading into the remainder of its fall schedule.
