Lincoln-Way West’s junior varsity boys golf team secured a strong road victory Monday, defeating Victor J. Andrew High School 162-170 in a dual match.
The Warriors were led by co-medalists Colton Gagan and Judah Portwood, who each posted rounds of 40 to pace the lineup. Their consistency at the top helped set the tone early and gave West the advantage against Andrew’s home course familiarity.
Not far behind, Aidan Sanchez and Luke Stoner added scores of 41, giving the Warriors the depth they needed to seal the eight-stroke win. Together, the quartet combined for 162, a total that proved just out of reach for the Thunderbolts, who finished with 170.
The match highlighted West’s ability to balance leadership with steady play across the roster. Head coach staff credited the performance as an example of how the team has been working to finish rounds strong while limiting mistakes.
With the victory, Lincoln-Way West continued to build momentum in its season, showing promise for future competitions. The team will look to carry confidence from the performance into its upcoming matches as it eyes further success on the course.
