Lincoln-Way West boys swim and dive delivered a strong overall performance to finish second at the Southwest Suburban Conference Championships, totaling 422.67 points in a tightly contested team race.
The conference championships took place Feb. 7 during Southwest Suburban Conference competition.
Lincoln-Way West remained in contention throughout the meet, finishing just behind Lincoln-Way Central and ahead of Lockport in the final standings. The Warriors generated points across swimming and diving events to stay within striking distance of the top spot as the meet progressed.
Several athletes contributed high-value performances to the team total. Jack Casey anchored the distance events with strong swims in the 200-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle, while William Spee provided key scoring in the butterfly and individual medley. Colin Stack added points in sprint and backstroke events, and Ethan Ferrucci contributed in both the breaststroke and individual medley.
Depth also played a role in Lincoln-Way West’s finish, with scoring performances from Ryan Medel, Camden Ring, Noah Kueltzo, and Tyler Stasiak. In diving, John Kucala delivered a high-scoring performance to bolster the Warriors’ total.
Lincoln-Way West’s balanced effort across disciplines allowed the Warriors to secure a runner-up finish in one of the conference’s most competitive championship meets.
