The Lincoln-Way West girls wrestling team achieved a commendable third-place finish out of 20 teams at the Mather High School Lady Ranger Classic. The event, held on January 4 at Mather High School in Chicago, showcased a competitive field.
According to the team’s performance summary, Lincoln-Way West concluded the day with eight wrestlers earning podium finishes and accumulating a total of 132 team points. Sydney Kettering led the Warriors by securing a junior varsity championship in her weight class. Other notable performances included Amelia Galarza placing fifth in the 105-pound category, Genesis Guerrero finishing fourth at 110 pounds, Georgia Erhardt securing sixth place also at 110 pounds, and Dani Schedin taking fifth place at 125 pounds. Brianna Palomares earned fourth place in the 190-pound category, while Aubrey Barnes (120), Kate Bohms (145), and Paige Cronin (170) also contributed with podium finishes.
The depth of talent across multiple weight classes was instrumental in securing Lincoln-Way West’s third-place finish and maintaining their competitiveness throughout the event. The team aims to build on this performance as they prepare for upcoming meets later this month.
