Lincoln-Way West girls basketball battled through overtime before falling 57–51 on the road to Downers Grove North, the state’s No. 9-ranked team.
The game took place Feb. 7 at Downers Grove North High School, where the Warriors matched the Trojans’ intensity throughout regulation and forced overtime with strong defensive effort and composure late in the contest.
Lincoln-Way West showed balance on the offensive end, with Mackenzie Roesner leading the scoring with 16 points and Molly Finn adding 14. The Warriors stayed competitive against one of the state’s top programs by controlling stretches of play, executing defensively, and responding to key moments with confidence. The game remained tight into overtime before Downers Grove North was able to pull away in the final minutes.
Lincoln-Way West’s performance reflected the group’s resilience and continued growth, as the Warriors competed toe-to-toe with an elite opponent on the road. The effort underscored the team’s toughness, poise, and ability to rise to high-level competition, while also highlighting their discipline, unity, and confidence in key moments, setting a strong tone moving forward.
