The Lincoln-Way West Warriors moved closer to the Class 7A state title with a 43–20 victory over Kenwood in a first-round playoff game. The win improved the Warriors’ record to 11–1.
The matchup occurred on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Lincoln-Way West High School in New Lenox, Illinois.
After falling behind 6–3 in the opening quarter, Lincoln-Way West responded with 21 unanswered points in the second quarter. Running back Jahan Abubakar scored twice, including a one-yard touchdown early in the second, and Jimmy Talley returned an interception 35 yards for a pick-six. Quarterback Grant Tustin completed 10 of 14 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 50 yards and another score. Zach Hermanson was perfect on five extra-point attempts and made two of three field goals.
Lincoln-Way West’s defense pressured Kenwood into turnovers, including a fumble and two interceptions, while the Warriors’ special teams consistently flipped field position. Kenwood’s offense totaled 416 yards, with 189 rushing and 227 passing, but their two second-half touchdowns could not close the gap.
Lincoln-Way West will next face Downers Grove North in a neutral-site playoff matchup as the Warriors continue their postseason run.
