Lincoln-Way West’s season ends in 7–6 OT loss to D230

Lincoln-Way West’s varsity boys lacrosse team concluded its season with a narrow 7-6 overtime defeat against D230 in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Sectional playoffs on Wednesday night.

The match was marked by strong defensive play and intense competition, as both teams exchanged goals throughout the four quarters. According to reports, the game remained tied at the end of regulation, leading to an overtime period characterized by heightened tension.

Despite their efforts, Lincoln-Way West was unable to secure a victory. D230 took advantage of an offensive opportunity during the extra period to clinch the win and advance in the playoffs.

Senior goalkeeper Logan Lahey played a crucial role for Lincoln-Way West, delivering an impressive performance by blocking numerous shots and keeping his team competitive. Additionally, Logan Yerkey significantly contributed by excelling at faceoffs, providing Lincoln-Way West with multiple possessions during the game.

Head coach Jackson expressed pride in his team’s perseverance and development over the season. He specifically acknowledged the contributions and leadership demonstrated by the senior players. “I’m proud of the hard work and dedication these boys showed all year,” Jackson said. “This senior class set a standard for future teams to follow.”

Lincoln-Way West concludes its season with optimism for what lies ahead.
