Lincoln-Way West defeated Paducah Tilghman 11–2 in a nonconference Border Wars tournament softball matchup Saturday.
The game, played at a neutral site on March 28, marked an important early-season victory for Lincoln-Way West, which improved its record to 6-2. The team built an early lead with three runs in the first inning and continued to add insurance runs throughout the game. Abby Brueggmann pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out six. Paige Seivert went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Reese Forsythe also contributed a 3-for-4 effort with a double, four RBIs, three runs and two stolen bases. Kaylea Armstrong and Hannah Borchert each added key RBIs as the Warriors secured the decisive tournament victory.
Lincoln-Way West returns home Monday, April 6, for a conference matchup against Homewood-Flossmoor, according to MaxPreps.
The Warriors and Vikings met twice during the 2025 season, with Lincoln-Way West earning a commanding 12–2 home conference victory on May 1 after also facing Homewood-Flossmoor earlier on April 8 in another conference meeting.
Lincoln Way West serves grades 9 to 12 with an enrollment of 1,941 students during the 2019–2020 school year. It is located in New Lenox and Will County, according to the Illinois Report Card. Of these students, grade distribution was as follows: grade nine comprised 36.3 percent; grade ten had the highest concentration at 39.4 percent; grade eleven accounted for 36.1 percent; and grade twelve made up 37 percent of enrollment. The student body was composed of approximately 81.8 percent white students, 1.8 percent black students, 12.7 percent Hispanic students, and one percent Asian students during that period.
