Lincoln-Way West left no doubt in its season opener, overpowering Eisenhower 47-7 on Friday night behind a punishing ground game and an unshakable defense.
Running back Jahan Abubakar was the star of the night, rushing for 145 yards on 19 carries and scoring four touchdowns. Quarterback Grant Tustin provided balance, tossing for 66 yards and two scores while also rushing for a touchdown. Tustin’s strikes went to Ethan Swanson, who hauled in a 26-yard score, and Braydon McNulty, who added a 17-yard touchdown.
The Warriors controlled the pace despite holding the ball for just over 15 minutes, racking up 20 first downs and converting all seven third-down attempts. They finished with 265 yards of total offense, averaging nearly six yards per play.
Defensively, Lincoln-Way West smothered Eisenhower, allowing only 18 passing yards. RJ Boye intercepted a pass, while Jackson Mansker and Brayden Nelson led a front that produced constant pressure. Eisenhower managed just nine first downs and punted five times.
Special teams also shined. Austin Collins totaled 56 yards on kick returns and Chase Markowicz added a 24-yard punt return.
Lincoln-Way West (1-0) showcased balance, grit and dominance, sending an early message across the conference.
